I’m a huge fan of The Setup, a website that interviews people from different fields and asks them what hardware and software they use. I’ve discovered some great tools from reading these interviews so I’ve decided to interview myself and share my setup.
Who are you and what do you do?
Hi there! My name is Kevin Allen Rodriguez (@kevallrod) and I’m a web developer and marketing professional.
During the week, I bounce from my loft office to my local coffee shop coding the web and implementing the latests marketing strategies. In my spare time, I like to rant about professional experiences I have endured and hack together ideas about future projects and write about them on my blog.
What hardware do you use?
I love Apple products. My primary machine is a late-2009 2.26 GHZ Intel Core 2 unibody MacBook. Yes I know it’s a bit ancient but if it still works, why replace it?
When I’m plugged in at my loft I use an Apple Magic Mouse because I can’t live without the multi-touch gestures. For my keyboard, I use the Logitech bluetooth illuminated keyboard (K810). To drown out noise, I use my Skullcandy Hesh 2 headphones.
My mobile phone is an iPhone, I use a Kindle Fire HDX for android development.
And what software?
I use far too many programs to mention, but the programs I rely on the most are: Xcode, iTerm2, Chrome, Brackets, Alfred 2, Trello, and 1Password. My email provider of choice is Gmail. For music, I can’t live without Spotify.
I’m addicted to Oh-My-Zsh, I love it.
Occasionally I’ll read Reddit and Hacker News.
What would be your dream setup?
Mac Pro, enough said!
